Rosewood is a NATURE IDENTICAL steam distilled from Dalbergia Sissoo Wood.
Pure Rosewood Oil is protected by CITES, therefore pure oil is extremely difficult to purchase, has an environmental impact and is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. There are companies online portraying that they are selling pure rosewood oil - this is highly unlikely, unless you are buying it at very high prices. Buyers beware !
Dalbergia sissoo oil is not real rosewood. Dalbergia sissoo, commonly known as Indian Rosewood, is a type of hardwood tree native to the Indian subcontinent and southern Iran. While its timber is often referred to as rosewood, it is distinct from the true rosewood species found in the genus Dalbergia, such as Dalbergia nigra (Brazilian Rosewood) and Dalbergia latifolia (East Indian Rosewood).
The term "rosewood" generally refers to a group of richly hued woods, often known for their aromatic properties when freshly cut, but not all woods labeled as rosewood come from the same species or produce the same quality or characteristics, including their essential oils. Therefore, oil derived from Dalbergia sissoo should not be confused with oil from the true rosewood species.
