We all know that essential oils can help us relax, but did you know they're also great for pain relief? Essential oils have been used for thousands of years as a natural way to treat aches and pains.
They work by stimulating the body's endorphins, which are its natural painkillers. In addition to helping with headaches, backaches and other common ailments, essential oils can also help boost your mood if you're feeling stressed out - and there are plenty more benefits too!
Which Essential Oils Do I Choose?
The choice of essential oil depends on a number of factors, however two important factors are whether the essential oil provides the therapeutic benefit you desire, then you just need to decide which essential oil you like the aroma of - everyone is different !
In this post we'll go over 8 essential oil blends that will make the pain go away.
Ease Migraines
When it comes to treating migraines, peppermint oil is the most effective. It's also an excellent option for headaches and toothaches. Rosemary oil also works well as an anti-inflammatory agent, so it can be used in place of (or to compliment the use of) ibuprofen or aspirin.
Lavender helps alleviate tension, stress, and pain and has been shown to help with anxiety. Finally, frankincense helps reduce inflammation throughout the body, including the head, where many people experience migraine symptoms.
You will need:
1 drop Peppermint
2 drops Lavender
2 drops Rosemary
2 drops Frankincense
Directions:
Place all ingredients into a glass dropper bottle or roller bottle and add 1 oz carrier oil (I recommend fractionated coconut oil). Apply 1 to 2 drops to temples, forehead and back of the neck as needed.
Soothe Body Aches and Pains
This blend is excellent for those who suffer from arthritis and muscle pain. It can be used topically to ease the discomfort of a sore back or muscles.
The ingredients in this blend are antispasmodic, analgesic and analgesic. They help relieve pain in different ways:
Marjoram is an antispasmodic oil that also has analgesic properties (pain relief). This means it helps relax muscles that may be causing you pain by reducing their muscle spasms, which makes them ache less.
Peppermint oil is an analgesic (pain reliever) that works on both the central nervous system (the part of your brain that receives messages from your body telling you when something hurts) and the peripheral nervous system (the nerves throughout your body). It reduces inflammation, which reduces pain caused by inflammation such as arthritis or muscle spasms.
Cajeput oil has similar properties to those listed above; however, its main purpose is to reduce fever due to colds or flu symptoms while still providing some relief from aches and pains associated with these illnesses.
You will need:
1 drop Marjoram
1 drop Peppermint
1 drop Cajeput
2 drops Helichrysum
1 drop Eucalyptus
Use your blend for sore muscles, backaches and other body aches and pains.
